Back To Square One (Again)
2025/10/02

If I have a dollar for every time I'm back to square one, I would have three. It's not a lot but it can feel hopeless if you are trying to achieve the novelty. Unless you are playing a game of Monopoly then I hope you don't go broke from those stupid hotel tiles.

Ahem. Let me give you a proper greeting. If you come across this blog post and have a patience of a saint for making it to this paragraph, then it means this website has finally opened for fun, education, business, or whatever you desire for! This personal blogging website made by me is here to show the world about ... me.

And what makes this website so special to me? Well. Because this entire site was created without relying on a website builder service. That's really shameful since I have been developing software for two years. I could had built this earlier but I was so dang busy with everything.

But wait. You might be asking about my "back to square one" phrase. How does that even relate to this website? I mean. This website just popped into the reality for less than a week (as I'm writing this). Well. I used to have one, no, two personal websites before I created this one. Maybe a little bit of throwback might help you get the picture.

Old Blogs Throwback

"Bloggers"

"Blogger" or "Blogspot" is a blogging service provided by Google. And surprisingly enough. It's still available. Normally it would had died down due to decrease in popularity. Google loooooves to kill their products seasonally. But I guess their platform is still making them moolas. So, I don't think it's going anywhere.

I don't remember when I created that Blogger website. Maybe around 2018? Maybe? But all I remembered is I put out some tutorials and "researches" stuffs on there. And lucky for you, I didn't delete it because I forgot about its existence.

"Wix"

"Wix" is a modern website builder that allows you to create modern websites without any coding knowledge. That's neat. I used its service around 2020 when I was studying in a university. By monthly, I would update my status through a series called 'monthly_blogging[<array index number>]'.

I used to do it like it was a religion. I even said "if there's no monthly blog post within a month, assume that I died". Beside having a wall of texts. I also included neat scenery photos I took from various virtual world medias. Think of video game screenshots but with no UI elements or any pesky other players doing photobombs. Only pure scenery vibe were allowed.

However. Since I used the free tier of its service, it had zero SEO works. So, my posts were nothing but talking to a brown brick wall. For worse, it reinforced the "you are all alone" idea onto me too.

A little bit of off topic here. I graduated with a final year project that were MADE by MYSELF all alone because I didn't socialize hard enough. I almost didn't get to graduate due to me being a lonely stray. It wasn't an awful experience per se. But it hurt my perspective about "friends" for sure.

Why Are They Gone?

For Blogspot. I abandoned it due to the fear of Google pulling off the plug. I mean. I can download the entire site and host them somewhere else. But I don't want to deal with Google's nonsense. So, no means no.

For Wix. Simply. It's costly and overkill for my scope. But I recommend it if you want a website with less trouble as much as possible.

And for the last. Since I made this entire website. I have FULL control of what can be on my website. I can make add, change, remove, or do whatever I want; with only limits being my knowledge and hosting service.

"Make yours, yours again" will be the motto of this website.

Fast Forward To Now

So. What now? Hmm. Can't say much. But I do have a to-do list on what this website needs and what I should write about. Plenty of rooms for ideas.

But for now. I think I should get back to work. Layouts aren't gonna complete themselves.
